UTSA SPIRIT OF SAN ANTONIO

This year, the UTSA Pom Squad has been a part of the best band in Texas: The Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band (SOSA)! We dance to our own music, as well as with the band. The collaboration between the two make for one amazing Half-Time show! The “Spirit of San Antonio” performs a standard pre-game show, 4-5 different Half-Time shows, play lots of great stand tunes, maintain UTSA traditions, all while promoting a positive learning and social environment for its members. College bands strive towards being fun and spirited organizations while still achieving a quality of performance representative of the image of our great University, regardless of performance venue. As an organization, we love to have fun, meet new people, learn new things, as well as show how much we love

our Roadrunners. The UTSA Pom Squad loves their new home and looks forward to many more years with this very talented organization.

SUMMER CAMP:  In the summer, Pom Squad goes through a week of Roadrunner camp with the band. Because the first performance of the Marching Band season usually takes place during the first week of school, camp usually begins one week prior to the start of school in the Fall. During this week, Pom learns marching basics, our Pre-Game show, our first 2-3 Half-Time shows, sideline routines, ripples, chants and cheers, etc. Rehearsals are very intense during these days, but the attitude and talents of the organization make this one of the most memorable and enjoyable weeks of the season! At the end of every

camp, the whole organization celebrates their progress and survival through a tough week with an annual pool party. This is a great way for both teams to meet and greet as well as strengthen their relationships with their teammates (see image above). After the long week of hard work, the UTSA SOSA fam likes to kick off the beginning of the year with our meetings and practices. This gives Pom the opportunity to run through our first Half-Time show in front of an audience and also gives us a time to get accustomed to our boots and field turf.  Then, it is on to the first game of the season! Game Time: As soon as we arrive at the Dome, we practice, practice, practice for our Half-Time show. Next, we get ready for the Spirit Walk. This is where Pom, Band, and Cheer welcome and show their support to the Roadrunners. We also get to interact with the fans, take pictures with them, and see all of the wonderful Roadrunner pride.

(see picture to the right). The UTSA Pom Squad is grateful to be on the field alongside the UTSA Marching Band, showing their Roadrunner Pride.

Peace. Love. Pom.
